What are the FreeStyle Lite systems?
The FreeStyle Lite™ systems are the newest offering of the FreeStyle® family of blood glucose testing products. The FreeStyle Lite meter, FreeStyle Freedom Lite meter and FreeStyle Lite test strips offer all of the benefits of FreeStyle technology, plus no coding required.
How are the FreeStyle Lite and FreeStyle Freedom Lite systems different from other FreeStyle products?
The FreeStyle Lite system offers the following new features:
- No coding required
- New FreeStyle Lite test strip that is compatible with the FreeStyle Lite and FreeStyle Freedom Lite meter
- Large reading in a small, discreet meter
- New stylish meter design
- 7-, 14- and 30-day averages with 400 results in meter memory
- Yellow strip port so patients can readily see where to insert the test strip
- Rubber grip for no slip on surfaces
The FreeStyle Freedom Lite system offers the following new features:
- No coding required
- FreeStyle Lite test strip that is compatible with the FreeStyle Lite meter and FreeStyle Freedom Lite meter
- Larger buttons
- 7-, 14- and 30-day averages with 400 results in meter memory
- Yellow strip port so patients can readily see where to insert the test strip
Do the FreeStyle Lite and FreeStyle Freedom Lite meters use the same FreeStyle test strips as other FreeStyle meters?
No. The FreeStyle Lite and FreeStyle Freedom Lite meters are only compatible with FreeStyle Lite test strips. The other FreeStyle test strips will not turn on the FreeStyle Lite or FreeStyle Freedom Lite meters.
Can I use FreeStyle Lite test strips with the FreeStyle, FreeStyle Flash, FreeStyle Mini, or FreeStyle Freedom meters?
No. FreeStyle Lite test strips are only compatible with the FreeStyle Lite or FreeStyle Freedom Lite meters. The FreeStyle Lite test strips will not turn any of the other meters on.
How is the FreeStyle Lite test strip different from the FreeStyle test strip?
The FreeStyle Lite test strip has a unique turn-on bar and the FreeStyle Lite logo printed on the strip. The FreeStyle Lite test strip can only be used with the FreeStyle Lite or FreeStyle Freedom Lite meters. The FreeStyle Lite test strip, however, uses the same technology and chemistry, and has the same performance and accuracy as the existing FreeStyle test strip.
What is coding?
Coding is an adjustment of the calibration specifications of the meter to match those of the test strip.
Does the no coding feature of FreeStyle Lite or FreeStyle Freedom Lite systems affect accuracy?
No. All meters are accurate when coded correctly. The FreeStyle Lite and FreeStyle Freedom Lite meters are designed to work only with FreeStyle Lite strips so it is coded correctly every time. The FreeStyle Lite and FreeStyle Freedom Lite meters have been programmed with calibration specifications that are compatible only with the FreeStyle Lite test strip to provide clinically accurate results.
How do the FreeStyle Lite and FreeStyle Freedom Lite systems accomplish no coding?
The FreeStyle Lite meter and FreeStyle Freedom Lite meter have been programmed with calibration specifications that are compatible only with the FreeStyle Lite test strip to provide clinically accurate results.
Can the FreeStyle Lite or FreeStyle Freedom Lite meters display test results in both mg/dL and mmol/L?
No, the FreeStyle Lite and FreeStyle Freedom Lite meters are preset at the time of manufacture to display test results in either mg/dL or mmol/L, depending on the country. The user cannot change the unit of measurement setting.
Can the FreeStyle Lite or FreeStyle Freedom Lite systems be used to test on alternative test sites?
Yes, the FreeStyle Lite and FreeStyle Freedom Lite systems have the most approved number of alternative test sites of any competitive meter. With the FreeStyle Lite systems you can test on fingers, forearm, upper arm, hand, thigh and calf.
How large are the numbers on the meter display?
For the FreeStyle Lite meter, the height of the glucose number is 10mm, and the length of the glucose reading is 17mm. The entire LCD display is 19mm height x 24mm length.
For the FreeStyle Freedom Lite meter, the height of the glucose number is 20mm, and the length of the glucose reading is 27mm. The entire LCD display is 34mm height x 29mm length.
Can I erase test results from the memory of the FreeStyle Lite or FreeStyle Freedom Lite meters?
No, it is not possible to erase or delete test results stored in the memory of the meter, as these results are important to health care providers in evaluation and treatment. Once the meter has reached its capacity of 400 readings, the oldest test results will eventually "roll out" of the memory, in the order that they were obtained.
What is the glucose result range for the FreeStyle Lite and FreeStyle Freedom Lite systems?
The FreeStyle Lite and FreeStyle Freedom Lite systems glucose range is 20 - 500 mg/dL (1.1 - 27.8 mmol/L).
How many reminder alarms are built into FreeStyle Lite and FreeStyle Freedom Lite meters?
There are four optional programmable reminder alarms in FreeStyle Lite and FreeStyle Freedom Lite meters. The reminder alarms are designed to turn on daily. There are three sound settings for each alarm - off, low and high.
Do the FreeStyle Lite or FreeStyle Freedom Lite systems require their own special lancets?
No, the FreeStyle Lite and FreeStyle Freedom Lite systems uses the same FreeStyle lancets as all other FreeStyle systems.
Do the FreeStyle Lite or FreeStyle Freedom Lite systems require their own special control solution?
No, the FreeStyle Lite systems use the same FreeStyle control solution as all other FreeStyle systems.
What kind of batteries do the FreeStyle Lite and FreeStyle Freedom Lite meters use?
The FreeStyle Lite meter uses one CR2032 "coin cell" battery, which is commonly available where batteries are sold.
Can I upload results from the FreeStyle Lite and FreeStyle Freedom Lite systems into a data management system?
Yes, the FreeStyle Lite and FreeStyle Freedom Lite systems are compatible with the PC Link 2.6 data management software and Co-Pilot Health Management System Version 3.1.
